A recently conducted survey by IMEX concluded that wellbeing is a top priority for meeting professionals. IMEX will offer a series of wellbeing initiatives at IMEX America this year to recognize the wellbeing for meeting professionals.

The event will take place Oct. 18–20 in Las Vegas and has several initiatives planned over its course. On Wednesday, Oct. 19, IMEX will host the IMEXrun, a 5K run along the Vegas Strip at dawn. The Be Well Lounge returns, led by trainer Lee Papa and her team. Regular sessions on yoga, mindfulness and mediation are offered as part of the initiative. Garbage Grabbers-Clean Up offers delegates the opportunity to ‘netwalk’ and interact with the local community.

On Monday, Oct. 17, volunteers can join the IMEX staff to participate in Exclusive Destination with 3D Destinations, GES and MeetGreen. This initiative also offers participants a chance to give back and to also netwalk with other meeting professionals.

Atlantic City

Last year was the highest grossing ever for the United States commercial gaming industry.* Meeting planners who hold gatherings at casinos may just feel like they’ve hit the jackpot, too. Casino-based events provide one-stop convenience—the amenities of convention centers and bountiful hotel rooms, plus activities, dining, and nightlife.

Doreen Guerin grew up an Air Force brat, living in Texas, Louisiana, and later England and France. When she was 13, her parents moved to Queens and, Guerin says, “I’m a New Yorker through and through.” That’s apparent from her accent as well as her dedication to the Javits Center, where, as the senior vice president of sales and marketing, she oversees the booking and event-related operations for more than 170 events each year.
