Atlantic City Planned Several LGBT-Friendly Events

By M+E Staff

Recently, Atlantic City celebrated the LGBT community with a three-day beach party event. The July 18-20 weekend brought in more than 2,000 people from New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. Mayor Don Guardian recently announced the city’s Park Place beach is also targeted to the LGBT community.

Two more events are on the horizon for the community, both taking place in September. The Miss’d America Pageant, held at Harrah’s Resort, will begin Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. with a pre-party starting at 5 p.m. in the Eden Lounge. Television personality Carson Kressley of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” will serve as the pageant host, while the Melanie Rice Orchestra will provide live music. Sept. 26 to 28, Atlantic City will expand to the business sector. The city is excited to announce their first LGBT business to business and business to community weekend event. The weekend events include a networking mixer Sept. 26, a marketplace/expo Sept. 27 and a StandOUT Comedy Benefit Sept. 27 featuring nationally renowned comedians, according to the release. Proceeds from this event will support the Atlantic City GLBT Alliance, Family Equality and the Trevor Project. For more information, visit standoutexpo.com.
