Looking for some unique team-building opportunities? Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh has you covered. From pretzel-twisting and cocktail-mixing classes to the "52 Up Close" show with magician Lee Terbosic, your group can experience everything from education and comedy to sleight of hand tricks and mind reading. "Careful with your thoughts about your colleagues!" warns Greg Goffin, director of sales.

The hotel is also offering workshops with local boutique Una Biologicals where groups can make their own teas and essential oil blends. For a more action-packed activity, Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh is working with Lumberjaxes for axe-throwing team-building activities.

"At Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh we’ve always tried to make personal experiences and connections with our guests and clients. With that, we wanted to have an official offering for our groups, so we rolled out our Experiential Meetings program in July," Goffin says.

The experiences are offered year-round and can suit a variety of group sizes, from craft cocktail classes for 20-30 people all the way up to axe-throwing for up to 200 people.

"Groups have loved all of them, quite frankly. Speaking from my own experience, I was really surprised by how much fun I had making essential oils with Una Biologicals," Goffin says. "It just wasn’t something I had anticipated really enjoying. I knew I would have fun throwing axes, and who wouldn’t like a bourbon cocktail with a pretzel? But, for me, the Una Biologicals experience could not have been more fun."

Goffin says groups typically choose one or two experiences, but with the interest groups have shown in multiple activities, he says he wouldn't be surprised if groups started doing two or three activities during their stays.

"Most people have been to a company training or organizational conference before. Does anyone really remember something memorable about a specific conference? I would say most likely, they don’t. We believe that if they have a one-of-a-kind experience that they will remember that conference or moment for years to come," Goffin says. "In order to fulfill this, our idea was to give our clients something human; a true bonding experience. We want our clients and guests to remember their conference at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh and look forward to returning."
