Encountering the Refrigerator Blindness in Business Situations

I’m reading a fantastic book right now (Visual Intelligence) and it talks all about how we often overlook most things. There is a phenomenon called refrigerator blindness, which basically means that you open the fridge door and stare endlessly at the contents, unable to find the mayonnaise jar even though it’s staring you right in the face. Do you ever find this happen outside of the kitchen, perhaps even in business situations? We get so used to booking the same venues over and over that we forget about other places. It happened to me just the other day.
