Craft beer breweries, praised for their innovative flavors and essence of locality, are popping up all over the country. Flying Fish Brewing Co., located in Somerdale, opened in 1996 and beat the rush. Now, 20 years later, Flying Fish still offers a new flavor weekly. With 12 beers on tap at any given time, it’s no wonder it remains on everyone’s radar.

Located off of Interstate 295, the brewery distributes its products within 100 miles, touching down in restaurants and liquor vendors in not just New Jersey, but also Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. “More than 70 percent of our visitors come from 10 miles away or more … people are interested in breweries right now and they’re searching us out,” explains Gene Muller, founder and president of Flying Fish Brewing Co.

Three years ago, the brewery underwent a major renovation, moving from Cherry Hill to Somerdale and expanding from 10,000 square feet to 45,000 square feet. Flying Fish Brewing Co. is open five days a week and offers both public and private tours as well as tastings, with no reservation necessary.
