Visit Bucks County Announces Tourism Awards

In conjunction with National Travel and Tourism Week, yesterday, Visit Bucks County handed out awards during its Travel & Tourism Annual Awards breakfast.

The program honors industry employees and organizations for their accomplishments, service and leadership. The awards included Hospitality Leadership Award, Guest Excellence Award, Community Service Award and the Rising Star Award.

Pittsburgh Marathon Rounds Up All 50 States

The Pittsburgh Marathon accomplished an exciting goal this week.

This year, for the first time ever, the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 3 will have runners from every state. Since 2011, North Dakota has been the only state to not have a participant, but things will be different this year. VisitPittsburgh launched a social media campaign that encouraged North Dakota runners to enter to win a sponsored trip to the race.

New Communications VP for VisitPITTSBURGH

VisitPITTSBURGH has announced the hiring of Tom Loftus as vice president of communications.

In his new role, Lofts will be in charge of managing and executing all internal and external communications programs, while also incorporating multimedia and digital communication tools that support and enhance the organization’s goals and mission.

Mayoral Candidates Forum

All seven Philadelphia mayoral candidates recently met to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the travel and tourism industry.

The candidates met during the Mayoral Candidates Forum on Hospitality and Tourism, hosted by five major tourism industry organizations at the Independence Visitor Center in Philadelphia. The organizations were the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association, the Independence Visitor Center Corporation, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority and Visit Philadelphia.

Atlantic City Reports Strong First Quarter

Atlantic City remained a popular destination for events during the first quarter of 2015

During the timeframe, the Meet AC sales team brought 30 conventions and meetings to the Atlantic City Convention Center and 19 to hotel properties—a more than 25 percent increase from 2014’s first quarters.

Discover Lehigh Valley, the destination marketing organization for the area, partnered with RCN and Service Electric television stations to give viewers a taste of the Lehigh Valley area on Channel 189.

New Team Member for PHLCVB

Martha Falcon has been hired as executive director of marketing and communications for the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau.
