Gettysburg may be synonymous with the Civil War, but this thriving town is stepping out of the shadows. “The travel experience in Gettysburg and the surrounding countryside is more diverse than it’s ever been. Most people think of Gettysburg as a Civil War town, and that it is, but there is so much here that starts with history and ends with great food, outdoor recreation and a variety of shopping and unique events,” says Carl Whitehill, director of communications for Destination Gettysburg.
The Civil War may be the first thing that comes to one’s mind when thinking of Gettysburg, but a close second should be the food offerings available to the nearly 3.7 million visitors and thousands of meeting and conference attendees each year.
Two new members have stepped up to Destination Gettysburg’s board of directors.
The CVB recently elected Andrea Proulx, director, sales and marketing, Gettysburg Hotel and Bryan Johnson, CTA, general manager, Country Inn & Suites By Carlson hotel to serve three-year terms on the board, starting July 1.
