• DoubleTree Reading Now Welcoming Guests

The DoubleTree by Hilton Reading has officially opened its doors and is welcoming guests with their signature warm chocolate chip cookies in hand.

The 209-room, eight-story hotel features a modern interior designed by RD Jones & Associates, with urban rustic décor, wood accents and a soft color palette. Local artwork adorns the walls and guest rooms have 43" HDTVs, mini refrigerators and safes. 

Other complimentary offerings include Wi-Fi throughout the hotel's public areas and guest rooms, a 24-hour business center, a 24-hour fitness center and an indoor swimming pool. There is free garage parking and shuttle service within a 5-mile radius of the hotel.

As part of its grand opening, the hotel introduced the restaurant Cheers American Bistro, open for all-day dining with seasonal menus that feature farm-to-table entrees, such as g burgers, salads, steaks and seafood.

With 27,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, including a 12,000-squar-foot ballroom, the hotel can hold events of up to 1,300 people. For smaller groups, the hotel offers the Meetings Simplified by DoubleTree by Hilton package from $59.49 per person, which includes the meeting room, basic meeting Wi-Fi, supplies including a flipchart, markers, extension and power cord, and all day non-alcoholic beverage service. Catering services and a dedicated event staff also are available.

Visitors will enjoy views of iconic buildings such as the Pagoda, built in 1908 atop Mount Penn and now open as a café and gift shop," says Craig Poole, general manager, for the new hotel. Last November, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a comprehensive $450 million “Bring Back Tourism, Bring Back Jobs” recovery package to support New York’s hard-hit tourism sector. Part of that package is a $25 million “Meet in New York” grant program that focuses on venues and events that generate and support business-related travel. “This holistic approach to visitation recognizes the spending habits of business and convention travelers for overnight stays, food, and activities,” the governor’s press office noted.

 

After having closed its doors in November 2019 for an extensive renovation, The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages on Shelter Island, New York, is accepting reservations beginning July 15. The 49-room luxury property, which dates to 1927, will be reopening under the ownership of a collaboration between Cape Resorts, a hospitality investment and management company specializing in adaptive reuse and historical preservation of resort properties, and the Petry family, who has owned and operated the resort since 1961.
