• Howard Johnson by Wyndham Portsmouth Receives Best of Award

The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Portsmouth was recently recognized with a “Best of Award” from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The newly renovated hotel in Portsmouth is managed by Olympia Hotel Management. 

The Wyndham Best of Awards are given annually to an elite group of hotels. Award criteria is based upon three areas: hotel quality, guest feedback and Wyndham Rewards compliance. Teams from these hotels strive to embody the spirit of hospitality.

“We are honored to be recognized,” says General Manager Tyrone Fields. “This is only our second year being part of the Howard Johnson brand, so it’s really an honor to be internationally recognized by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.”

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Portsmouth offers 61 guest rooms, each featuring work space, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave and a flat-screen TV with HBO. The hotel offers a business center, fitness center and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Ample free parking is available onsite.

“For me, this award is about my staff," says Fields. “I’m really big on culture and making sure this is a fun place to work. We’re a smaller hotel and only have 10 employees here at any given time, so it’s a major award for our team who strive to deliver outstanding service every single day.”

Located less than four miles from Portsmouth International Airport (PSM) and right off of I-95, Howard Johnson by Wyndham Portsmouth is close to downtown and the famous Decks, with the open-air bars along the water’s edge. Also close by are The Kittery Outlets, Water Country Water Park and York’s Wild Animal Kingdom.

This summer, New York is welcoming its first sports betting bar and casino, Rivers Sportsbook Schenectady. The lounge, designed by DMAC Architecture, is approximately 1,800 square feet of comfortable chairs with charging ports, betting terminals and a gaming floor. With walls covered in high definition televsions, Rivers Sportsbook allows guests to place bets on several different games rather than just focusing on one.

 

Aventri, a leader in events management software (EMS), recently released ‘The Top 100 Meeting and Event Venues in the United States’ for 2019. The company took the ten top-rated meeting and event cities in the United States and picked the top ten venues in each area, compiling a list of 100 highly-regarded spaces. 

The guide identifies the two most valuable factors in attendee satisfaction as venue location and activities in the host city, followed by capacity, uniqueness and proximity to local attractions.

 

Mount Airy Casino Resort revealed its recent expansion with a ribbon cutting on May 2. The expansion included several additions and renovations to the resort's event space.

Before the expansion, Mount Airy Casino Resort lacked space to accommodate large scale meetings and conventions, but now it has a full-service four-star diamond resort that can accommodate 750 guests seated or 1,200 standing.
