After being shuttered for two years, while it underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation, The Langham, Boston, has reopened its doors, restored and reimagined. “Guests of The Langham will surely notice the extraordinary transformation that came with the great deal of time and care, tying it seamlessly back to its Boston banking heritage but with a fresh, luxurious touch,” says Michele Grosso, managing director of the iconic downtown Boston property, which has 312 guestrooms, over 13,000 square feet of function space and two dining venues.

The lobby, elegant as ever, is decorated in jewel tones, with a cosy fireplace, ample seating, and high-design concierge area and check-in desk. The redesigned guest rooms and suites feature brand new marble-clad bathrooms, New England-inspired décor and, in the case of the hotel’s signature Loft Suites, two story brass-embossed windows accenting the bi-level living and sleeping quarters left from the hotel’s days as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

The Fed, a new destination bar, features a British cocktail pub menu with a New England twist. Grana, set to open on July 16, will offer an authentic Italian dining experience set in the former grand hall of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, with soaring ceilings, ornate chandeliers and velvet banquettes

Meeting space has also been refurbished and a new venue, the Lincoln Ballroom, has been introduced. With a capacity of 175 guests, the ballroom features natural light by way of a skylight flanked by chandeliers, and windows in its pre-function space that overlooks Norman B. Leventhal Park, a city-center greenspace with a garden trellis. For intimate C-suite gatherings, the Chairman’s Suite is a luxury penthouse featuring a king-sized bedroom, hardwood floors, a living room complete with a baby grand piano and a generous dining room that seats eight.

Guests of the hotel can partake in a daily complimentary Heritage Tour of the hotel, including an overview of the impressive new art collection and the building’s heritage as the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in 1922.

This fall, The Langham will introduce The Langham Club, a signature of The Langham Hotels & Resorts brand, featuring a private space in which guests who have purchased Club access can meet, eat and socialize. A new hotel flag is flying in Manhattan. Pendry Hotels & Resorts has announced the opening of Pendry Manhattan West, the brand’s first hotel in New York City. In collaboration with Brookfield Properties, the hotel is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and features 164 luxury guest rooms, including 30 suites, with interiors by Gachot Studios.

 

The Smyth Tribeca is welcoming guests again, this time as a newly independent hotel. The 100-room hotel first opened as a Thompson Hotel in 2009 and was rebranded an AKA property in 2018. Now, after being closed since March 2020, Smyth Tribeca will be run by Highgate, a real estate investment and hospitality management company.

 

With high-tech, low-touch amenities like self-check-in at airline-style kiosks and deliveries via YO2D2, the hotel’s friendly resident robot, YOTEL Boston is well positioned to welcome meetings back comfortably and safely. Now as part of its “SmartStay” safety measures, the property, which has 326 guest rooms, or “cabins” in YOTEL lingo, has introduced a second robot, Vi-YO-Let, to offer UVD-grade sanitization and disinfection throughout high-touch public spaces and selected rooms.
