TRAVEL AS FAR SOUTH on the Garden State Parkway as possible and you’ll happen upon Exit 0, otherwise known as Cape May. Hugging the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean at the very southern tip of New Jersey, Cape May is a National Historic Landmark that preserves its Victorian heritage and pristine beaches. Just 2.5 square miles, tiny Cape May offers a rich variety of formal and fun. It may be a short road trip from New York or Philadelphia, but quaint Cape May is worlds apart from the hustle and bustle.
WHEN YOU THINK OF NEW JERSEY, wine isn’t normally the first thing that comes to mind, but the Garden State is the seventh-largest producer of wine in the United States. There are more than 40 wineries throughout the state, from the southern tip of Cape May all the way up to the northern tip of Montague. The climate and soil varies greatly across the state, and southeastern New Jersey, known as the Outer Coastal Plain, has even been designated as an American Viticultural Area (AVA). AVAs are official wine grape-growing regions of the U.S.

Food truck festivals, such as the Winter Blast held in Secaucus prior to Super Bowl XLVIII, draw huge crowds of hungry fans seeking to sample everything from classic American comfort food and Asian street food to sugary confections. Now that summer is here, save a spot in your parking lot or on a grassy patch and have your next event roll right in.

The Brewers Association defines a microbrewery as producing less than 15,000 barrels of beer a year, with 75 percent or more of its beer sold off-site. A nanobrewery is even smaller, with only a few barrels allowed at any one time, which can only be sold on premises or in restaurants. Meanwhile, a brewpub is a restaurant-brewery hybrid that sells at least 25 percent of its beer on-site, with beer often dispensed directly from the brewery’s storage tanks.
