Atlantic City Announces Great Numbers

Atlantic City has announced a stellar quarter and representatives believe this will welcome even more business in the coming months.

“The key indicators show that the current operators continue to improve,” says Matthew Levinson, chairman, New Jersey Casino Control Commission. “Gaming revenue is up, total revenue is up, net revenue is up, gross operating profits are up, hotel occupancy rate is up and the average room rate is up. ”

CRDA Approves a Number of Summer Measures

Last week, the Board of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority approved several measures at its meeting, including the installation of more LED bulbs, added security cameras along the entirety of the boardwalk, the funding of summer activities and help with the restoration efforts of the Midmer Losh organ at Boardwalk Hall.  

Great American Outdoor Show Gave Economic Boost to Harrisburg

As predicted, the 2015 Great American Outdoor Show made a more than $70-million economic impact on the Hershey Harrisburg Region.

This year, the show, which took place Feb. 7–15 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, brought an estimated $73 million to the area—a 4 percent increase from last year.

Monopoly's 80-Year Anniversary Holds True to its Roots

Atlantic City’s Boardwalk and its streets were the inspiration for the board game Monopoly back in 1935. Today, the area remains a part of the game, even as new editions are released.  

Recently, Hasbro, Inc.—the game’s manufacturer—announced they were asking the public to vote on new cities for an updated Here and Now edition. Atlantic City did not make the cut.

Major Success for Global Spectrum

Global Spectrum, the facility managers of Historic Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center, revealed increased progress for both venues during the organization’s first full year of management.

According to Fran Rodowicz, general manager, the company increased the amount of activity, created new affordable labor agreements, improve the technology infrastructure, raised customer service scores and more. Global Spectrum took over the facilities, owned by Casino Reinvestment Development Authority on Jan. 1, 2014.

One Philadelphia Area Chapter Meetings Professionals International—Julie Green—is uniting with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise money and find a cure for blood cancers.

Green began participating after being asked by LLS to compete for Woman of the Year. And while the catalyst for Green was LLS' interest in her, it's also important on a personal level—her fiance was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and LLS was a huge help for the couple. This November, he will have been in remission for four years.
