Ron Shah is no stranger to the meetings industry. During business school at New York University, he worked part time in sales at the New York Seminar and Conference Center.
Now, that experience has paid off. Shah created Bizly—an on-demand platform for booking private meeting rooms at luxury hotels by the hour. Featuring a curated selection of hotels across a variety of styles, Bizly focuses on spaces that boost productivity, connectivity and inspiration for an increasingly mobile workforce.
Shah’s “aha” moment came when his venture capitalist office was under construction and he tried to book meeting spaces at nearby hotels. What else inspired him to strike out on his own? “The manual process, exorbitant pricing and tedious contracting process,” he says. Shah self-funded the first build of BIZLY.
Bizly currently focuses on meetings under 40 people and a booking window of 30 days or less.
There are 150 Bizly hotel partners from brands that include Mandarin Oriental, W Hotels, Ace Hotel, Standard Hotel, Kimpton, Morgans Hotel Group, Loews and Hyatt/Marriott.
- Hourly rates for meeting rooms on Bizly start as low as $55
- Users save up to 75 percent on same week bookings
Bizly boasts convenience, cost-savings, compliance and VIP amenities to users of all kinds—freelancers, executives/CEOs, in-house event/meeting planners, etc. Bizly offers corporations a custom enterprise management system to help manage internal conference rooms, manage users and spending.
The platform is not currently in New Jersey or Pennsylvania but is available in four cities—New York, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco, with plans to be in more than a dozen by early 2017.
In early 2017, Bizly will expand its offerings by morphing into a content-rich platform providing information about all hotel meetings spaces across the US and eventually abroad.
Bizly is also moving into the restaurant space and will feature easy-to-book private dining rooms.
Through Dec. 31, 2016, Bizly is offering special pricing at $99 for all rooms.
