Known as “The World’s Most Famous Building,” the Empire State Building, which welcomes more than 4 million visitors per year, has been going through some changes. One of those changes is the preparation of NYC: Above and Beyond, an interactive exhibit dedicated to global tourists in New York City. Set to be located on the 80th floor of the famous building, the exhibit will offer personalized travel recommendations to visitors.
Using a selection of engaging questions about visitors’ interests and the length of their stays, a list of secret, glamorous and classic draws across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island will be displayed for users who can select their preferred activities. Visitors will leave with a customized itinerary emailed or transferred directly to their devices.
“There was a clear call for assistance with itineraries and desire for an all-knowing resource. We immediately reached out to NYC & Company to partner with them, and that resulted in NYC: Above and Beyond,” says Anthony E. Malkin, chairman and CEO of Empire State Realty Trust.
“Visitors are in for a real treat, whether they are rediscovering this iconic attraction or experiencing it for the very first time,” says NYC & Company’s President and CEO Fred Dixon.
Designed to complement the striking city views from the 80th floor, the exhibit will surround visitors with expansive views of the city they have journeyed to. The exhibit will also offer accessibility with a wheelchair-accessible mode and a child-friendly height.
The Empire State Building has undergone new changes due to investments in energy efficiency, infrastructure, amenities and public areas. The exhibit is part of the second phase of a larger redevelopment currently taking place at the Empire State Building.
