VisitPITTSBURGH has developed a fun promotional campaign to get locals more involved with its “Pittsburgh. Mighty. Beautiful.” theme and tagline. The organization kicked-off the “Mighty. Beautiful.” campaign and contest at its Annual Meeting luncheon by asking attendees to think of a third word to describe the city, e.g. Mighty. Beautiful. Welcoming. Among the words being used to describe Pittsburgh were: Inspiring. Proud. Reinvented. Welcoming. Legendary. Innovative.
The Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau announced that 2016 was its highest convention booking year ever with 713 events and 903,199 hotel room nights secured for future years. This is an 18.2 percent increase in the number of events and a 5.8 percent increase in room nights secured during 2015.
This fall, Philadelphia is going to look even brighter! The Mural Arts program has just announced its Monument Lab, a citywide public art and history project that will create temporary public art installations in 10 locations across the city. It will last for nine weeks and is co-produced by Mural Arts Philadelphia and curators Paul Farber, Ken Lum and A. Will Brown. The exhibition will take place Sept. 16 through Nov. 19, 2017, and will be featured in the five original William Penn Center City squares as well as five neighborhood parks throughout the City of Philadelphia.
