Meet Laila Ea, Hospitality Across Cultures

Image:

Laila Ea was crossing cultures before she was even born. The child of Chinese and Cambodian parents, Ea was born in a refugee camp in Thailand. “My parents were lined up at the camp and told they would marry each other,” she explains. Her parents eventually fled Cambodia for Thailand, but it wasn’t an easy escape. “My mother was pregnant with me and my parents walked to Thailand,” she says. Ea’s family eventually landed in Philadelphia where they worked hard to secure a new life for Ea and her sister.

There’s S’more Than Just Meetings in the Great Outdoors

Corporations and businesses are often thinking of ways to lift employee morale and bring a workforce closer together, and one way to make that happen is by bringing the employees to a team-building activity at one of the many camps located throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

These camps offer a great way for people to learn to better communicate and work alongside one another effectively. Through these fun, out-of-the-office activities, employees can view one another in a different light and connect in a setting outside of work.

The Value of Interns Can Benefit Both Workers and Mentors Alike

Image:

Whether or not you've seen the movies “The Intern” (starring Robert De Niro) or “The Internship” (starring Vince Vaughn), you know one thing is for certain: Experience never gets old. In both of these Hollywood films, the main characters try to get back into the workforce in varying industries. The interns are slightly older than what you would normally expect, but, nonetheless, they prove that interns are an important and integral part of a successful business.

Museum of the American Revolution Tells a Lesser-Known Story

Image:

This museum promises to share a story that is not quite the one we learned in school. George Washington does indeed make an appearance—you can see the tent that he used as his headquarters in an interactive exhibit—but Museum of the American Revolution promises to tell a tale that is lesser known. From the first shots of the Revolutionary War to the formation of the United States, its mission is to tell the story of everyone from slaves and Native Americans to women who took up arms to fight for the cause.

While researching options for their own wedding in 2005, Cecilia was dissatisfied with the offerings and knew she could create something better. Meet Marilyn Sukonick-Zeff, It's All in the Cards

Image:

Marilyn Sukonick-Zeff’s story starts in a Barnes & Noble. On a whim, many moons ago—as she says—she took her two children for story hour at the national bookstore and noticed there would be a tarot card reader coming in to promote selling the cards. The experience intrigued her so much she asked for a private reading with the woman on a different date.
