“Welcome Back, Providence” is the straightforward tagline for a campaign that’s been launched by the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau to boost leisure and business travel. The campaign has some breaking news to share, including the return of Providence Restaurant Weeks from January 9-22, with more than 45 restaurants participating, and the return of ice bumper cars to BankNewport City Center, which is both a terrific family activity and a novel spin on teambuilding. Providence is one of only three cities in the country to offer bumper cars that operate on ice.

Looking ahead, Mayor Jorge O. Elorza, the City of Providence’s Department of Art, Culture+ Tourism, and founding partner FirstWorks will once again host PVDFest, Providence’s free outdoor signature arts festival, June 10-12, 2022. “After an unimaginable two years,” a statement read, “artists and performers from around the corner and around the globe will reinvigorate and rebuild Providence’s world-renowned art and culture community and showcase the Creative Capital. The three days of PVDFest programming will once again culminate on Saturday, June 11 with live music, dance, food, and visual art installations that will transform downtown Providence.”

Incorporating the host city into the framework of the meeting is an effective way to enhance the content of the conference.

Host in Local Hotel
While attendees might flock to flag hotels, consider a boutique hotel as overflow to showcase the destination. In Lubbock, the DoubleTree by Hilton offers a local flair through design and cuisine; meanwhile, just a few streets over, the Cotton Court Hotel pays tribute to the area’s cotton history.

Plano, Texas is truly the land of plenty. Blending historic charm with modern luxury, the city brims with attractions and amenities. With nearly 60 hotels of various price points, 1000+ restaurants, world class shopping, a lively arts and nightlife scene, abundant natural beauty, and four walkable districts, Plano is the perfect city for a meeting of any size.

Located smack dab in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth, less than a three-hour flight from either the West or East Coasts, is the city of Irving.
