Residence Inn by Marriott, located in West Orange just 20 minutes from Manhattan, is starting off 2017 with new incentives for groups and meetings. The all-suite, pet-friendly Residence Inn by Marriott West Orange is located 9 miles from Newark Liberty Airport. The hotel features 128 suites on three floors; a total of 2,394 square feet of flexible meeting space; complimentary on-site parking and daily breakfast; grocery shopping, dry cleaning and laundry services onsite; and a fully equipped fitness center with indoor pool and whirlpool. All suites include separate working and sleeping spaces, luxurious bedding, fully equipped kitchens and flat-screen televisions.

As for details on those group-minded packages…

Planners who book the Meet and Thrive package receive a 5 percent room rate discount for groups of 10 or more rooms. In addition, they earn 2,000 additional Marriott Reward Points and a complimentary AM/PM Coffee Break. This offer is valid on stays Jan. 1, 2017 through Dec. 31, 2017.

Small groups of 10–35 receive a $100 credit voucher for booking a meeting and a free welcome amenity for each attendee. The offer is available from Jan. 1, 2017 through April 1, 2017, and rates start at $169/night plus 15 percent tax.

Last November, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a comprehensive $450 million “Bring Back Tourism, Bring Back Jobs” recovery package to support New York’s hard-hit tourism sector. Part of that package is a $25 million “Meet in New York” grant program that focuses on venues and events that generate and support business-related travel. “This holistic approach to visitation recognizes the spending habits of business and convention travelers for overnight stays, food, and activities,” the governor’s press office noted.

After having closed its doors in November 2019 for an extensive renovation, The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages on Shelter Island, New York, is accepting reservations beginning July 15. The 49-room luxury property, which dates to 1927, will be reopening under the ownership of a collaboration between Cape Resorts, a hospitality investment and management company specializing in adaptive reuse and historical preservation of resort properties, and the Petry family, who has owned and operated the resort since 1961.
