As an editor, I get sent a lot of pitches. Each day, my inbox is flooded with different products, venues and services. It’s true that it takes a lot to get noticed, but I do glance over each and every one of them. I was sent one a while back from a place called Stumpy’s, a new spot for teambuilding. It wasn’t the name that caught my eye, though…it was the activity! Stumpy’s is a hatchet throwing facility in Eatontown. Yes, you read that right, hatchet throwing. It’s like darts but with a hatchet. Don’t worry –they provide safety equipment and an explanation before your team begins –though this may be one where you leave the legal department back at the office. If you’re looking for something really different that lets everyone seriously blow off some steam, this may be exactly what you need. Sessions run for two hours and include the training and a lesson, because unless you’re Paul Bunyon, you’ve probably not thrown a hatchet of late. Stumpy’s also has a cute private room, the Wood Shed. It’s the perfect post-throwing spot with a rustic feel complete with a farm table accommodating up to 14.
