TripAdvisor awarded Certificates of Hospitality in 2015 to the Wildwoods Convention Center and the Wildwoods Boardwalk.

The travel website hands out the certificates to hospitality organizations that continue to attain outstanding traveler reviews. Customers give the convention center and the boardwalk stellar reviews, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Of note, TripAdvisor also named the Wildwoods the overall U.S. winner in the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Destinations on the Rise awards for 2015. These awards give recognition to 52 areas around the world that have garnered the greatest positive feedback and interest on the website year-over-year. Ten destinations were named to the list, with the Wildwoods boasting the top spot.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized with Certificates of Excellence in Hospitality for both the Wildwoods Convention Center and boardwalk by TripAdvisor; recognition which further validates their naming us as the No. 1 Destination on the Rise,” says John Siciliano, executive director, Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority. “Everyone here works tirelessly to make the Wildwoods one of the country’s most popular family vacation destinations, and we are grateful that our work is paying off for our visitors, who then share their positive experiences online to encourage others to come make similar memories with their families.”

Others may disagree—let’s make that, others will certainly disagree—but last year Food & Wine Magazine named New Jersey the best pizza state in America, followed by Connecticut and New York in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively. Pennsylvania landed in seventh place and Massachusetts nabbed 10th place.

Atlantic City

Last year was the highest grossing ever for the United States commercial gaming industry.* Meeting planners who hold gatherings at casinos may just feel like they’ve hit the jackpot, too. Casino-based events provide one-stop convenience—the amenities of convention centers and bountiful hotel rooms, plus activities, dining, and nightlife.

Doreen Guerin grew up an Air Force brat, living in Texas, Louisiana, and later England and France. When she was 13, her parents moved to Queens and, Guerin says, “I’m a New Yorker through and through.” That’s apparent from her accent as well as her dedication to the Javits Center, where, as the senior vice president of sales and marketing, she oversees the booking and event-related operations for more than 170 events each year.
