It might not offer all-you-can drink cocktails or chaises by an infinity pool, but Prallsville Mill might just be the all-inclusive setting you’re seeking for your next event. This historic mill complex, comprised of 10 acres with 10 buildings, enjoys one of the most picturesque settings in central New Jersey. Nestled along the tow path in Stockton, Prallsville Mill is integrated into the waterside park and has unmatched views of the Raritan Canal, Delaware River and Wickecheoke Creek.

John Prall bought the mill in 1794 and built a village around it; Prallsville Mill’s historic buildings are now among the most unique venues available in the state. “Here, you can change buildings and levels in one meeting or event,” explains J. Colby Smith, executive director of The Delaware River Mill Society, which manages the mill. “This setting, right here on the tow path … the breaks are really unparalleled."

The historic John Prall Jr. House, with its wide-plank wood floors and walk-in fireplace, oozes colonial charm and is suitable for 20 guests indoors, while the lovely backyard accommodates 50. The Saw Mill, complete with rustic wood interior, is suitable for 130 for cocktails and 80 for a seated dinner or meeting. “The best part about this space is these doors that open to the outside,” says Smith, noting that they create an indoor/outdoor feel.

Next door, the Grist Mill features three floors and the silo. “When you rent the Grist Mill, you get all of the floors, so your guests can walk up and down and explore different areas,” explains Smith. “On the second floor you’ll see the mill’s original machinery and on the bottom floor, the water that powered the mill still flows in and out to the canal.”

The Grist Mill accommodates up to 200 standing, 135 seated. The Quarry House is a staging ground for outdoor events, with a semipermanent tented area suitable for up to 225 people. The views out to the river, as well as the garden, which supplies vegetables, flowers and herbs for events, are stunning. Prallsville recently signed a contract with Crave Event Groups, A Division of Landmark Hospitality.

Sheraton Dallas Hotel has introduced a new outdoor event space under its new event programming, Dare to Outdoors. The hotel’s catering team has partnered with Pacific Plaza Park, a 3.7-acre green space in Downtown Dallas. The park features a 31,950 square-foot lawn space and permanent seating, as well as night-sky friendly lights for star-watchers. Three food truck power outlets are available and standard outlets are located throughout the park.
