HARRAH’S ATLANTIC CITY WATERFRONT CONFERENCE CENTER REACHED CONSTRUCTION MILESTONE

The final beam for the Harrah’s Atlantic City Waterfront Conference Center was just installed. The completion of this project is dire for the survival of Atlantic City’s future. The new conference center is set to open in August 2015.

Venue Report: Lancaster Arts Hotel

If you read hotel marketing materials as much as I do, you’ll realize that many like to say they “feel just like home.” I’ve always taken issue with that – not because I don’t love my own home – but because when I travel I want my hotel to be different. I want to experience something unique and memorable. Comfortable, yes, but exactly like what I have at home…no thanks.

Put Private Dining in the Palm of Your Hand

I am insatiably curious and always keen to learn something new, but I find that I am surprised by the seemingly familiar more often than not. Case in point? The Palm restaurant in Philadelphia. This elegant steakhouse is tucked inside the landmark Hyatt at The Bellevue hotel. It exudes that classic steakhouse appeal – a dark wood bar, a buzzy “business is getting done here” ambience and professional male waiters sporting jackets.

Meet Sarah Anello, Center City Distric

CITIES ARE SYNONYMOUS with skylines. Think of any major city and a landmark building or glittering glass tower probably springs to mind, but a city’s real personality comes alive in its parks. These down-to-earth spaces are where you’ll find children playing, co-workers lunching and couples canoodling. In areas where traffic is snarled and elevators are crammed, parks give us a respite from all that is, well, urban. Literally and figuratively, parks offer us a breath of fresh air.

THERE’S NOTHING QUITE LIKE GETTING AWAY FOR A WEEKEND at an inn or bed-and-breakfast to enjoy the charming, tranquil ambiance. Pennsylvania is home to myriad inns and B&Bs, but these escapes offer more than just a room and a view; many of the most popular spots also offer great meeting space and provide the perfect venue for hosting an event.

Firefly: A Celestial Dining Experience in LA

“Join us for dinner under the stars,” the invitation had read. It’s the kind of enticement that often turns out to be an exaggeration in Los Angeles, where outdoor dining can mean a few tables wedged into a corner of a parking lot or spilling out into a busy thoroughfare with cars whizzing by so closely, you could almost reach in and adjust their air conditioning. But this time, the setting was truly magical.

Lessons from Helen Mirren (Well, Kinda) on Planning a Group Dinner

I just came back from a screening of the delicious Hundred-Foot Journey, the Helen Mirren movie that opens later this month, about the rivalry between two restaurants in a small village in the South of France. Mirren is the icy proprietress of a decades-old, Michelin-starred classical French restaurant; across the road the boisterous Kadam family is opening a traditional Indian spot featuring the vivid cuisine—and lively music--of their native Mumbai.
